Mahamrityunjaya Mantra Chanting This is a very powerful and sacred mantra of Hinduism. This mantra is chanted to praise Lord Shiva and receive his blessings. It is described in the Vedas as “Rudra Mantra” and is part of the Rig Veda and Yajur Veda. Amrit Sanjivani

“Om Hroum Joom Sah Om Bhur Bhuvah Swah
Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam

Om Swah Bhuvah Bhuh Om Sah Joom Hroum Om”

Om- Symbol of God.
Triyambakan – The one with three eyes (Lord Shiva).
Yajamahe – We worship him.
Sugandhin -those who make life fragrant and pure.

Meaning: We worship Lord Shiva, who has three eyes, who spreads fragrance and purity in life and provides nourishment and strength to our life. Just like a ripe fruit (cucumber) gets separated from the vine easily, Similarly, O Lord, free us from the bondages of the world and the fear of death and grant us the knowledge of immortality or the eternal soul.

Number of chants — To get rid of any pain or disease, there is a rule of chanting this mantra 1.25 lakh times and its tenth part is havan i.e. 12500 aahuti havan. By increasing the number of chants, the havan can be made a little shorter. Or according to the capacity, half or quarter of 1.25 lakh can also be done. Chant in a clean place or in a Shiva temple. Select 5 to 7 eligible Brahmins and then start the Puja. Also perform Rudrabhishek of Lord Shiva and chant the mantra using Rudraksha beads. Whenever there is a problem or trouble or any disease, one should immediately take a bath and chant the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra to receive the blessings of Lord Shiva.
